The greatest fear that is prevalent in all lives on earth is Death. People don’t even want to take that name and many don’t attend a funeral in fear of that. Even if we turn a blind eye or run from it, the truth remains the same that all lives born on this earth have been predestined to meet Death, which is so universal.
The Bible says when God made man death was not in His plan, but man through his sin brought death into the world as forewarned by God and death reigned & ruined us through our sins. But God didn’t disown us and let us be doomed the day we sinned, but prophesied that He Himself would come in the flesh to redeem us (Genesis 3:15), which is the very first prophecy declared in the Bible.
They generally say in a man’s life – parents are until marriage, friends are until old age, spouse until death, but no one after. Death seemingly has the final say and proves to wreck our lives and bring great havoc that it could separate us from our loved ones forever! But The Bible says that we need not fear death as even death, the seemingly all-powerful can’t separate us from the love of God, the love which was sent from above in the form of Jesus Christ.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” – Romans 8:38,39
God sent His only begotten Son to the world, to redeem us from our sins, by dying in our place and rising up the third day which is what we observe as Easter. And now, death would have no hold on whoever put their trust in Jesus, just as it had no hold on Christ.
The resurrection of the body is so foreign to many religions but very central to Christian Faith. Death seems to put a full stop to everything but not in the case of a Christian. There is Hope for a Christian believer that the God who died for us and rose again, would never leave us nor forsake us (Bible – Hebrews 13:5) and that after this life on earth, we would be forever with Him in Glory. That’s why the greatest story ever told, as they say, is of Christ’s birth but that doesn’t end there. It sees its fulfillment in His death on the cross, His Resurrection and His promise to come again to take us to be with Him! Before going to the cross, Jesus said, “I go to my Father to prepare a place for you, so that where I am there you may be also” (John 14:3).
The resurrection of Christ gives us the Hope and as Jesus promised, we who believe in Him will rise up when we die, and be with Him forever more. This Hope that is in us keeps us alive, believing that a life forever with our Saviour is waiting on the cards. And we would never ever feel forsaken, orphaned for we would be with our Maker forever in our after-life!
The Bible says that there are 3 things that abide forever – Love, Faith, and Hope and declares the greatest of these is Love! The Love that Bible portrays is the Love that was sent from above, which when accepted by Faith, gives us the Hope that we would also be with our Lord and Saviour forever!
Would you please take a moment to place your Faith in Jesus, who provides us with the Hope that transcends the universal law of death, that whatever may happen, we would be never be separated from God!
