Teaching induces learning or learning gives way for teaching, there can be endless arguments whether it is the heart to learn opens the space for teaching, or the overpowering presence of knowledge around through the outlet of teaching inspire and creates the space for learning. The curiosity in an human being which is the catalyst to learn begins very early, when the child explores the space around it, touches and observes for an experiential learning. This curiosity just grows when the child gets energy and strength to move. But curiosity alone cannot make way for learning if there is not enough of creation and space around which encourages and motivate the curiosity. I think both go together to form the quintessential balance, but the argument might end as teaching Inspires learning!
God in his manifold power created the earth and the heavens, created every living thing we see around, created the space for human existence, then made man for whom everything in the universe was created. He gave him space to explore and learn all that He created for him in love not for him to stay, explore and know the creation, but to stay, explore and know the Creator.
Psalm 19:1 says “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. The great teacher that is God left his most precious creation in human being to learn everything He created for him and ultimately know Him through the magnificence of His teaching through His creation. Bible says in John 1:3 “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made”, and goes on to say in verse 10 “ He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not Know him”. Man who could feel the presence of God and know Him through His creation, failed miserably in knowing God as he sinned against God through disobedience, the creation around man which was once a great, sweet and enjoyable learning experience for man in knowing God became a burden to him. God in his mercy gave them teachings throughout history, but the sin of disobedience made man reject His teaching. Then God himself came down to this earth, to teach the right way of knowing Him. He is Jesus Christ, It is through Him that everything was created but the world did not know Him. Jesus conquered sin on the cross of Calvary. He died to overcome sin and death so as to restore the great learning experience that man once enjoyed.
Learning searches for the truth, Jesus said “I’m the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the father (God) except through me” (John 14:6). There is only one way man can know God, his Greatest Teacher and Father that is through Jesus Christ. In John 1:12 “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”. It is through Jesus Christ we can know our Creator God and the Greatest Teacher. It is through Jesus Christ we can find the whole purpose and meaning of all creation and our existence. If we fail to learn the truth from him, we will be the curious little child trying to learn anything and everything without purpose as we have rejected the very purpose. And it will be a burden to our souls. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jesus invites everyone to come to him and learn from him and understand the truth behind our existence and the existence of the world. It’s not a cumbersome learning but a delightful one.
God already revealed the truth about Him through Jesus Christ, who taught humanity to know everything about God our Creator, and did everything on the cross to know Him personally. Finally He leaves the choice to us. In this Teacher’s day, let us learn the truth from the greatest ever Teacher that is Jesus Christ as He invites us to learn from him and believe in him. He has already created that space to learn, but it’s our choice to take up the learning. Jesus says in John 10:27 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. Happy Teacher’s day!
