The other day my mom was searching for a document, and my dad was watching her as she went surfing about. After sometime he quipped to my mom, are you searching at the right place? In life it is very important where we search for things. What would happen if we search for groceries in a clothing shop, it becomes irrelevant and ends up in disappointment. Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son came in to this world, lived a life of Holiness and was crucified for the sins of the world. He prophesied beforehand about His death and resurrection to His disciples at many occasions (Luke 24:7, John 11:25). But when that day of resurrection came, they forgot what He said and were searching Him at the wrong place. The angels who were there at His tomb asked them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here”” Luke 24:5.
Many times we look for answers where there is no answer and get disappointed because of our unrealistic search. Some search for ways to know the truths about life and its origin. Their never ending search prolong because they search the answers at the wrong place. Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
People are searching here and there, spending lots of money to get their sins forgiven. But their sin is never removed as they are searching the forgiveness at the wrong place. The Bible says that Jesus is the Lamb of God which takes away the sins of the world (Refer John 1:29) and He alone can give us salvation (Ref Acts 4:12). People get themselves involved in many things in search of the ever elusive peace. Yet they could not experience the peace that they yearn for. The Bible says that Jesus is the prince of peace (Isaiah 53:5, 9:6 & Luke 2:14) and through Him alone we can receive the true peace we search for.
Jesus rose again on the third day to give the hope of resurrection and eternal life. He proved He is what He claimed to be, and through resurrection He assured us our salvation. No one ever made such a powerful and meaningful claim that He is the beginning and the end. But rather than believing and accepting the truth, we make hopeless searches which take us only to further disappointments. The disciples too didn’t believe His resurrection until they saw Him appearing to them. But once they witnessed Him they could not hold the truth within themselves. They too searched in unbelief. But when the truth was revealed, they just believed.
Where are you searching? Are you searching for truth at the wrong places like how the disciples searched for Jesus in the tomb? Even after the search do you still feel empty like how the disciples found the tomb empty? Today Jesus is revealing Himself to you, as He revealed Himself to His disciples. He is the answer and the solution for your never ending search. He rose again to give hope where there is hopelessness; to fill where there is void. Repent and believe in Him. He will take care of the rest. Happy Easter!
